X Factor, Red or Black? and Jonathan Ross return as ITV1 dominates peak time on the hottest day of the year
ITV1 dominated peak time last night with an average audience of 5.4 million between 7-10.30pm – making it the most watched channel in peak by over 1.4 million viewers.
The X Factor returned, drawing a peak audience of 9.9 million viewers/ a 46% share of viewing.
The 75 minute launch show averaged 8.7 million viewers/a 42% share of viewing, making it the highest rating programme on television last night, with over double the audience of the next nearest programme.
Red or Black? at 7.15pm was watched by a peak audience of 4.1 million/23% share, and averaged 3.4 million/ 20% share across the first 45 minute show.
The second instalment of the Ant and Dec fronted game show peaked at 5.1 million viewers/24% share, drawing an average audience of 4.0 million/19% share across the 45 minutes between 9.15-10pm.
The Jonathan Ross Show – featuring a stellar guest line up of Olympians, alongside Kelly Brook and Colin Farrell – returned with 3.6 million viewers/20% share, up by half a million viewers on the launch episode of the previous series, peaking at 4.2million/22% share.
