We are just a matter of days away from finding out which single and album have topped the Official UK Charts for Christmas 2014.

X Factor winner Ben Haenow is fighting for his place at the top with his debut single while Ed Sheeran’s latest album ‘X’ is keeping all competition at bay.

The Official Charts Company have confirmed that X Factor winner Ben Haenow has increased his lead over Mark Ronson’s ‘Uptown Funk’ by a further 10,000 copies following the release of the physical version of his debut single ‘Something I Need’.

At this midweek stage on the Official Singles Chart the track has managed to sell 107,000 copies with all proceeds being donated to the Together For Short Lives charity. At this point only 33,000 copies separate Ben and Mark heading into Sunday.

Ben hasn’t quite won the race yet though as streaming figures also count towards the chart and ‘Uptown Funk’ is the most streamed track of the week so far – if this continues, it could favour Ronson heading into Sunday.

Elsewhere in the Top 5, Ed Sheeran’s ‘Thinking Out Loud’ is at Number (3) while Olly Murs’ ‘Up’ featuring Demi Lovato is at Number (4) and Take That’s ‘These Days’ is sitting at Number (5) heading into the weekend.

There are six new entries on the chart heading into Sunday including Gorgon City with ‘Go All Night’ featuring Jennifer Hudson at Number (8) while Ed Sheeran’s ‘Photograph’ debuts at Number (32). ‘Demons’ by Imagine Dragons re-enters the chart at Number (33).

Meanwhile Iron Maiden’s ‘The Number Of The Beast’ re-enters the Top 40 at Number (40) thanks to a Facebook campaign to stop the X Factor topping the chart and a surprise entry over night comes from internet star The Wealdstone Raider which is at Number (37) with ‘Got No Fans’.
