Zoe Lister is to leaving Channel 4’s Hollyoaks after three years on the teen based soap.

Lister plays Zoe Carpenter and is planning to leave the show in December.

Speaking about her decision to leave, Zoe told MSN: “It’s scary but also very, very exciting,” adding: “I think three years in a soap is enough to do and you get to a point where you either make a decision that this is what you do or you want to try something different.”

She continued: “I think that when you’re an actor you don’t imagine yourself in the same job for years so I think when you get in the same job for a few years you start thinking ‘hang on, what am I doing this for?’.”
